New multi-touch technology presented at Seatec

TEAM Italia, specialist in navigation electronics for superyachts and commercial vessels, showcased the I-Bridge MT and I-Chart at Seatec.…

TEAM Italia, specialist in navigation electronics for superyachts and commercial vessels, presented two innovative new products at the Seatec exhibition this month.

The I-Bridge MT FUTURA and I-Chart were both shown at the two day exhibition from 6 to 8 February in Carrera, Italy. The I-Bridge is a customisable user-friendly, multi-touch system designed to be an exclusive helm station for the owner. The tech team came up with the product after listening to captains’ needs.

The makers say the I-Bridge is an evolution of the research and technology currently available on the integrated sailing systems market. Combining Multi–Touch I-Bridge technology with the operation of the I-CHART table, it produces a ‘high-performance, unprecedented union.'

The versatility of I-Bridge MT technology enables owners to choose the layout of their helm station, whilst allowing Captains to customise the criteria for managing the yacht according to their professional requirements.

“Innovation enables the shipyard to build the helm station according to an owner’s aesthetic instructions without having to take into account, in advance, all the systems which will subsequently be integrated,” explained Virginia De Carlo, Communication Manager at TEAM Italia.

“The I-Bridge MT enables Captains to access the control console many months before the yacht is delivered, in order to test correct operation of the system, all its potentials and insert other modules, if necessary, without having to change the layout of the helm being built,” she added.

Managing the different subsystems, such as Radar, Chartplotter, Nav Data Conning, Engine Data Conning, Monitoring and CCTV, is also facilitated by the TEAM Italia designed multicontrol system, enabling the control of different devices by means of an operating logic and standardised HMI interface.

A further, interesting function of the selection system is its context sensitivity to the operating environment of the yacht. A range of scenarios for managing data and information in the way most suited to the sailing conditions can be selected from a configurable menu.

The control and command systems and the subsystems necessary on board have also been integrated into a touch–panel (emergency devices not included), which respects the different on-board standards and regulations of each and every vessel.

In an emergency, the system can be excluded and the main device used in stand-alone mode. The I-Bridge MT can be remotely monitored at any time, and it is also possible to integrate other on-board devices into the Multicontrol Modules. They can also be added at a later stage without the need to install other hardware or make structural alterations to the helm.

The I-Chart can be integrated via I-Bridge MT or work independently

The I-Chart, also launched at Seatec, functions either as integrated via I-Bridge MT technology or independently through a multi-touch table which can be installed anywhere on the yacht.

Independent modules enable it to manage activities including: planning routes, integrating the secondary sailing systems available on the helm station, managing on-board anchoring and supervision systems, sending/receiving documents, researching information on the web and on-board entertainment.

It can all be displayed simultaneously on the screen, and matched with a tailor-made external design, which can be personalised for each installation.
