MedAire launches Sea to Shore app

MedAire has launched a new travel and medical safety app for superyacht excursions.…

MedAire has introduced its Sea to Shore app for iPad, which it claims is the first of its kind, delivering medical and travel safety information to crew and guests on luxury and expedition superyacht excursions.

Users can access information on hundreds of popular and off-the-beaten path yacht destinations. The app displays content based on a user’s destinations of interest and upcoming itineraries. Captains and crew can then view medical and travel risk ratings, local time, current weather, and sunrise/ sunset times for each destination on their custom dashboard.

Medical, security, and travel information relating to each destination, including a calendar of holidays and events that may affect shoreside excursions, is also provided based on a user’s MedAire Membership Level.

“Guests aboard these vessels expect the crew to monitor and care for every detail of their trip, including their onshore excursions, so they can enjoy their holidays,” said Steven Bates, General Manager of Luxury Yachts for MedAire. “We designed the app to help captains stay abreast of the latest advice and information about health and safety risks that could affect their itinerary, so they can prepare their crew and guests as appropriate.”

Users with full MedAire Membership can also receive Port Risk Assessments, as well as on-the-go security and medical guides and travel advice specific to the visited country.

In the event a significant or unforeseen event occurs, such as a disease outbreak or a natural disaster, MedAire Sea to Shore provides information about the event, and advice to mitigate risk to crew and guests.

MedAire members have one-click access to contact MedLink, MedAire’s 24/7 global response centre that provides sea-to-shore medical advice and assistance.

The app allows members to send photos and medical requests to the MedAire medical team for timely assistance.

All users of the MedAire Sea to Shore app receive access to weather by destination, currency conversion tools, and nearby lodging and dining options.

Medical, security and travel information is cached on a user’s iPad ensuring this vital information is accessible even without Wi-Fi.

MedAire will demonstrate Sea to Shore at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 30 – November 3, at MedAire Booth 735.
