Designed to be packed up and carried on the march on military campaigns, campaign furniture typifies the romance and discovery of the colonial times. Designer Richard Wrightman latest piece for Bespoke Global, the Carbourn folding chair, embodies this timeless style.

The Cabourn folding chair is an example of campaign-style furniture with a contemporary air. According to Wrightman, his campaign-inspired furniture is as much influenced by Danish Modern as it is by English colonial style, "mixing history with invention". The end result is a revisionist historical design. The Cabourn chair’s compact design is easily folded but does not neglect comfort.

Wrightman's interest in campaign furniture began with a late 19th century collapsible chair that belonged to his father. It would be a chair that Wrightman would take apart and reassemble countless times as his family set up camp between continents. "I appreciated the functionality of the design,” says Wrightman. “I always felt that the chair had its own secret history of places it had been before my father acquired it. Campaign is very romantic and timeless."

Richard's chairs are available for outdoor use in unfinished or oiled teak, COM solution-dyed fabrics, and UV resistant faux leather strapping. Fabric covers can easily be taken off for maintenance.
