Bruntons Propellers’ recently delivered what is thought to be the first ever four-blade folding propeller manufactured from titanium. Specifically designed for Baltic Yachts' 115 Custom, this 36in titanium version of Bruntons’ hugely successful Varifold design is around 40kg lighter than a standard Varifold, while, Bruntons’ claim, losing nothing in terms of performance, strength and durability.

The Baltic 115 Custom is designed to be both a comfortable cruising yacht and a high-performance racing yacht, with the reduction of weight a key element. Titanium is an excellent material from which to build a propeller providing a very high strength to weight ratio and excellent corrosion resistance. David Sheppard, Products Manager at Bruntons says, “All our range of two, three and four blade Varifolds will now be available in titanium giving any performance yacht an additional competitive edge.”

The first ever titanium four-blade feathering propeller?

Bruntons has over one hundred years experience designing and manufacturing propellers for naval, leisure and commercial craft. A market leader for leisure yachts up to 40m, supplying brands such as Nauta Swan, Oyster, and Southern Wind, it is also developing propeller designs for larger superyachts, which it hopes to present at
METS 2015.
