London-based furniture specialist Davidson has revealed its latest piece, the side cabinet Balthazar. Featuring a unique pitted bronze finish and four doors wrapped in vellum, this cabinet perfectly encapsulates Davidson’s chic aesthetic.

“This finish is an artisan crafted lacquered finish using a ground solid bronze powder,” says Richard Davidson, founder of the company. “The process involves a skilled craftsman manipulating the lacquered surface as it cures with a woven fabric that creates the unique textured pattern.” Using vellum, or calfskin parchment, is not something new for Davidson who have incorporated into their designed in the past. According to Alexandra Davidson, managing director, the company has been working with vellum for a while and seen a rise in the demand for highly lacquered vellum this year.

Davidson has 32 side cabinets on offer at the moment in a range of styles and finishes, but what makes this cabinet stand out is the bronze. “It is such an incredibly luxurious and unique finish,” says Alexandra. “Combined with the vellum, the contrast of the textured bronze with the velvety smooth animal skin really sets this new side cabinet apart.”

As with all Davidson pieces, Balthazar can be adjusted to custom specifications. Whether its a simple dimensional adjustment or a specific design in mind, Davidson are able to discuss individual requirements for any project.
