Four lucky newbies to the superyacht industry have been given a pretty good start – the winners of The Crew Coach’s Superyacht Scholarship have been announced.

The four winners (from the deck, engineering, galley and interior departments respectively) have won their own personal industry mentor, a week’s crew accommodation, crew-style uniform, membership to the Professional Yachting Association (PYA), health insurance, bank account and financial planning, ‘red carpet treatment’ by specific recruitment agencies and a private career accelerator package from The Crew Coach herself, Alison Rentoul.

As well as all this, and a bottle of champagne, the winning crewmembers have won department-specific training courses valued at up to €1,500 respectively.

Deck: James Benning, who will be mentored by Captain Stephen Priest, of motoryacht Tuppence

Engineering: Trystan Irwin, who will be mentored by chief engineer Duncan McQuire, of motoryacht Larisa
