GUEST crew workshop: Antibes

Partner Content: A look at the latest G.U.E.S.T. workshop for interior crew, hosted in Antibes.…

“It was a fantastic experience. Having over 10 years in hospitality and seven years on board yachts, it is great to finally have appreciation and attention to the interior crew. I hope this training will improve future crewmembers’ work ethics and knowledge.” – an attending chief stew.

On Saturday 24 June, 2017, a selection of interior crew congregated at the Royal Hotel in Antibes to participate in a day of training workshops offered by G.U.E.S.T.

G.U.E.S.T is the standard for interior training, including the industry standard within the yachting sector, and the programmes of training offered by the 24 accredited training schools worldwide.

With wide industry support from leading industry associations and inspiring feedback from crew who attend the courses, G.U.E.S.T was keen to demonstrate the huge benefits of this interior training programme. From etiquette to service, laundry to cabin set up, care of surfaces to team building and food safety to wine appreciation, we offered a wide range of interesting and interactive sessions.

The teams had the benefit to learn from the best; with Peter Vogel, principal trainer of Luxury Hospitality, Lynne Edwards, senior training manager at The Crew Academy, Sophie Leach, trainer for The Crew Academy, Kim Woodey, CEO and trainer for KDW Training, Georgie Vintner, hotel fleet training consultant for Carnival, Terry Gilmore, director of Interior Training Academy and Helen Brotherton, director and trainer for Fine Wine Works.

The Trainers worked their magic and, with their professionalism, their dedication and their humour, they drove the day to ensure that the participants gained the maximum from the snapshot sessions provided.

Fully booked – with a long stand-by list – this workshop was dedicated to the crew of the industry (though we did open up a small handful of places for local crew agents too). The majority of the participants where junior level, with a few more senior interior crewmembers willingly sharing their own experiences and issues.

A delicious lunch was served to our guests, the trainers and partners, who enjoyed the hospitality from the hotel, where everyone joined in sharing industry experiences and networking.

The day was made possible and certainly enriched by the presence of our G.U.E.S.T partners who contributed to the training workshops by providing their luxury and high-end products. With our thanks to TeslaMall, White & Green by The Winckworth Collection, Aqua Air by Real Sphere, Yachtneeds, Superyacht Operating Systems and Boutsen Design.

“Truly thankful for the opportunity to have come to this one-day workshop, which was filled with a wealth of knowledge that I will forever be thankful for. G.U.E.S.T. is paving the way for not only yacht crew, but professionals as a whole. I would love to come back one day to be a G.U.E.S.T. trainer.”- a statement from one of the more experienced attendees.
