Turkish agent clarifies fuel and charter reforms

With fiscal legislation being seemingly rehashed and revised across Europe, there is a degree of confusion about which yachts will qualify for tax exemptions this summer and where they will have to go to do so.

In keeping with this fiscal upheaval Turkey has issued some revisions to its rules on yacht charter and the provision of duty-free fuel. BWA Yachting’s Anne Spyropoulus has informed The Superyacht Group that all superyachts, regardless of status, “will be able to take on duty-free fuel this year in Turkey.” However, to qualify, the yacht must then immediately leave Turkish waters.

With regards charters beginning in Turkish waters, in order to qualify for tax exemption, the vessel must leave Turkey and visit a foreign port before returning.
