Sanlorenzo launches new engineering course

Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo has launched a new course for the training of installers and systems maintenance technicians. The new post-diploma course is part of the specialised offering from the Sanlorenzo Academy that was launched in September 2018.

With three courses now available to candidates – including the ‘Polyvalent boating operator’ course and ‘Sailor in charge of on-board technical equipment’ – the Sanlorenzo Academy has announced that additional courses will be added in the second half of 2019.

Initiated by Cavalier Massimo Perotti, Chairman of Sanlorenzo, the Academy aims to create new specialised individuals by providing them with training opportunities with a view for recruitment. The initiative was created in collaboration with the CISITA training institution, and with the support of the Liguria Region, Alfa Liguria, Confindustria La Spezia, the Municipality of La Spezia, the Port Authority and trade union representatives.

Through grants received from the 2014-2020 European Social Fund from the Liguria Region and by the co-financing of the European Union, the Sanlorenzo Academy is quickly coming into fruition.

Beginning in April 2019, the Installer and System Maintenance Technician course will focus around two specialised subjects including the installation or maintenance of nautical electrical systems and the installation or maintenance of nautical hydraulic and air-conditioning systems. Open to 20 unemployed individuals, the duration of the course is 800 hours of theoretical and practical training.

A six-month internship within the shipyard will then be offered to those who complete the course.
