Sanlorenzo Spa has announced the appointment of Ferruccio Rossi as the new group president. Rossi joins Sanlorenzo after a two-year tenure as the CEO of Ferretti Group.
Rossi preceded his career in the superyacht industry working for investment banks including JP Morgan and Permira Funds before taking executive roles at Ferretti, Grandi Navi Veloci Spa and Riva Spa.
Speaking exclusively to SuperyachtNews.com, Rossi said that it was the vision of chairman, Massimo Perotti that convinced him to leave Ferretti Group for Sanlorenzo. “Every yard has its history and heritage to be proud of”, he explained. “Sanlorenzo is majority controlled and managed by Massimo Perotti, whose strategy for the development of the Sanlorenzo brand I share deeply. The Super Yacht Division of Sanlorezno, in Viareggio, has recently presented new projects, developed in cooperation with Officina Italiana Design. The combination of Sanlorenzo’s and OID’s knowledge will definitely represent an important innovation in what is sometimes too conservative a market.”
Rossi continued that his main task is to support Perotti in the quest for market growth, allowing Perotti to focus some of his attention on his UCINA presidency. “Sanlorenzo’s market is ever more global, and at the same time, more local”, he explained. “Clients are increasingly coming from the most remote corners of the earth and this requires a global presence and a globally coherent brand and product management [strategy].”
However, Rossi will also be primarily responsible for making strategic appointments to strengthen and broaden the Sanlorenzo roster. “At the same time,” he added, “your ability to deeply understand your client’s culture and needs increasingly requires the ability to manage multicultural teams.”
