SuperyachtNews went to visit Hemisphere Crew Solutions, one of the industry's youngest superyacht crew recruitment agencies, having launched just six months ago, to understand why now is the time to launch a recruitment agency in an already highly populated market.

Nicky André, managing director of Hemisphere Crew Solutions

Nicky André, managing director, and Caroline O'Neil, office manager of Hemisphere Crew Solutions, outlined the importance of the personal touch needed in the recruitment sector (something a large number of captains are complaining is lacking today), however they then revealed that many crewmembers from the commercial sector are finding it difficult to enter yachting. While highly qualified, said André, too many of today's recruitment agencies do not understand the make-up of a commercial crewmember's CV, and as such these qualified crewmembers are being turned away - a damaging act for an industry in need of professional and highly skilled crew such as you find in the commercial sector.

Hemisphere Crew Solutions, however, has made it clear that it will not follow suit, and hopes to introduce some highly professional, commercial crew into the superyacht industry.
