Ocean Yacht Systems (OYS) has been recruited by Dubois to install the thrusters on its new 50m project, which will be built at the Fitzroy Yachts yard in New Zealand. The news follows OYS supplying the bow and stern thrusters onboard the 50m Zefira.

The thrusters themselves will be 2 x 99kW hydraulic swing thrusters. These are designed to improve efficiency whilst being mechanically locked into place when raised. When retracted there is little evidence of the thruster at all, leaving behind a completely faired hull providing minimal drag and optimising the sailing experience of these performance-orientated superyachts.

“We find their (OYS’s) attitude and approach to business to be outstanding amongst our many suppliers,” commented Rodney Martin, Managing Director of Fitzroy Yachts, “We want to keep OYS as the thruster of choice for our yachts and our plan is to recommend future clients to accept OYS as our preferred equipment.”

‘Project G50’ is scheduled to launch in 2012.
