The Professional Yachting Association (PYA) has opened a new regional office in Auckland, New Zealand to join its existing Australasian presence in Sydney, Australia.

The seventh overseas office of the Association, which has headquarters in Antibes, France, Thirty Seven South Ltd is a shore support and charter company founded in 1988 by Allan Jouning and Phil Tomlinson, who have operated large yachts for extensive periods.

"The company is honoured to be part of the PYA and we look forward to assisting its members. Our doors are always open to superyacht crew, owners and guests," said Jouning.

As a PYA regional office, Jouning and Tomlinson's team will be able to assist yacht crew much in the same manner as the team on the French Riviera. Regional offices can assist with processing new member applications, attest documents for completing Service Record Books and, with support from the PYA HQ team and Council, give crew assistance with careers, training and guidance on the ever changing industry.

Andrew Schofield, PYA President, said: "I am delighted to have Thirty Seven South join the PYA’s network of regional offices. Our aim is to help members and crew wherever they may be. The PYA’s regional offices are doing just that."

The global reach of the PYA is gaining momentum. At present there are regional offices on four continents and there look likely to be more offices growing the network in the near future. Previously known as the Professional Yachtsmen's Association, the decision has been taken to change the Association's name to update and reflect the PYA's role in promoting and supporting the professional development of all yacht crew worldwide. The Association is also in the process of developing a new image to go with the name change.
