Marine Hydraulic Solutions (MHS), which began operating in Palma de Mallorca at the beginning of 2014, and has already been forced to expand its team of engineers to meet demand.

MHS is a specialist marine hydraulic service that has been formed by Steve Branagh, owner of globally recognised mast and rigging firm RSB Rigging Solutions, and Peer Jorgensen (RSB General Manager).

General manager of MHS, Thomas Weiss was recruited to head up the team and open the workshop in the winter of 2013. Weiss has spent over a decade on board some of the most prestigious yachts as engineer, chief mate and captain, as well as ashore in shipyards working on new build yacht and refit installations and maintenance roles.

Weiss explained that he recognised the need to quickly expand the team and recruited Chris Geraghty and Paul Carty into MHS:

"We have been very lucky with the engineers we have recruited. Chris has a diverse and highly technical background. Chris, as a qualified and experienced aeronautical and Marine Hydraulics technician is a huge advantage to MHS and his full security clearance gives our clients satisfaction that he and the rest of our team are in full understanding of working in technically challenging, sensitive & secure environments."

Alongside Chris we have Paul who has experience in all aspects of superyacht hydraulic systems and has travelled extensively throughout Europe overhauling, repairing and installing deck cranes, stabilisers and boarding systems of all leading manufacturers.’

Since hydraulic systems are a critical aspect to the running of a superyacht, the founders of the company recognised the growing need for a specialist service. MHS can offer clients a thorough system analysis and efficiency study to ensure vital equipment such as pipe-work, power packs and valves are working effectively.

"Since the launch of MHS we have been overwhelmed with the response from the clients. We are working to capacity and so already looking to expand our team again in the very near future", Weiss explained. "We accredit this success to our excellent team of highly qualified engineers and our combined experience in the industry. We are looking forward to continuing to work on some excellent projects."
