As a partner MHG will market its health, life and disability insurance provisions. “Captains and crew are exposed to hazards that could seriously affect their short- and long-term financial goals,” said Clayton Swart, manager of business development for MHG. “In addition, given the recent changes in [US] health care reform and the Maritime Labour Convention, we want to take this opportunity to reach out to captains and crew who have concerns and questions, as well as to simply pass along what we know to those that do not.”
As part of this ‘educational’ process the company has established the MHG University, which is a platform for schooling crewmembers about legislative and regulatory changes that will impact their insurance coverage.
