Van de Wetering has been working in the superyacht industry for 25 years, since he first started out at Heesen, in roles including general manager, owner’s representative, and technical manager.

In a statement issued to the media, the Heesen management board echoed van de Wetering's sentiments:

We feel strongly about creating personal statements with our projects so that the personality and taste is all focussed on the owner.

Hessen has also appointed Thom Conboy as director of sales in North America, Mexico, Bahamas and Caribbean, prospecting clients in this territory. Conboy will represent Heesen at shows and develop a joint marketing campaign for the American market with the team head-quartered in the Netherlands.
Director of sales and marketing, Mark Cavendish said of Conboy's appointment, "We are delighted to have such a knowledgeable veteran of the superyacht industry in our team. I am confident that we will soon see great results, thanks to Mr. Conboy’s extensive technical knowledge of our yachts and great understanding of the American market.”
