Phil Edwards, CEO of Dovaston Crew, has announced that the Palma-based crew agency is the latest acquisition by Sovren House Group.
The acquisition continues an 18-month development programme for the Sovren House Group and although the official announcement only took place on 25 April, 2014, at the Palma Crew Show, the group has stated that it already has expansion plans in action. Dovaston Crew will shortly be opening offices in Barcelona and the Nautical Academy will be commencing training courses in Palma de Mallorca.
The Sovren House Group currently own and operate The Nautical Academy, Sovren House, International Yacht Register (IYR), IY Blue and Sovren Magazine. The group’s mission statement is to create and operate a well rounded business with continued growth, via increased sales and expansion and have stated that they will be bringing further assets into the fold within the coming months, including a private aviation company and a wealth management company. “A recruitment company was the next natural progression for the group,” comments Edwards. “Dovaston Crew’s reputation for quality and reliability make it a perfect fit.”
“With Dovaston on board, the Sovren House Group can now offer their clients an enhanced personnel service with a greater choice of highly trained and well qualified, professional yacht crew,” explains Melanie Winters, marketing manager of Sovren House Group.
“Dovaston Crew are facing an exciting new era as they move under the umbrella of Sovren House, reaping all the benefits of a larger, more influential entity,” adds Edwards.

In a statement, the group has expressed the belief that its other companies, IYR and IY Blue, which offer yacht management and brokerage services, will now be in a stronger position to offer their clients a much more comprehensive, personalised and dedicated service with preferred rates through Dovaston Crew. The group’s association with Setai Yachts will also create natural synergies across the group with the Nautical Academy delivering Setai’s 7-star training in service and hospitality on board yachts and commercial vessels alike.“With Dovaston on board, the Sovren House Group can now offer their clients an enhanced personnel service with a greater choice of highly trained and well qualified, professional yacht crew,” explains Melanie Winters, marketing manager of Sovren House Group.
