Over the years John Munford has come to recognise the necessity for stylish deck furniture on yachts that can be stacked, folded, stored and easily moved between decks. The Summit Sundeck range
(featured in SuperyachtDesign Q13) started with the iconic Chaise sunbed and continues to develop with Munford’s latest addition: the Folding Beach Club Dining Table, which was launched at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. The designer tells SYD more about the table.

I know about the difficulties that crew experience moving and arranging furniture for guests, or moving the furniture between decks, or even setting up ashore. The Folding Beach Club Dining Table is a brilliant solution for dining on the foredeck of sailing yachts where there is no room for fixed furniture.

With a square teak grate top 85cm x 85cm, the table comes in three heights for dining, coffee lounging and bar use. When required it can also be linked together to make larger tables to seat more people. As a standard dining table it seats four people comfortably but using the different linking rails, the table can be expanded to seat virtually any number.

The linking tops are 85cm x 75cm, so they can be easily stored and handled. The round, single table version, also with a teak grate top, has a diameter of 120cm for seating six people, or there is a two-part top of 170cm diameter for seating eight. Depending on the format, you simply select either the collar, short or long link, which slips over the top of the stainless steel legs holding the tables together before slotting the tops in place making it a rigid structure.

With the table variations and a few of the Sundeck Director’s Chairs the crew can easily store and rearrange as and when required. Although Sundeck was born out of yachting, the range is equally at home on the patio or terrace of any home or leisure facility.
