Jetlev Sports has announced that the global launch of their new carbon fibre Jetlev-Flyer will be held at the London International Boat Show.

Featured in Q3 and developed over the course of nine years, Jetlev technology is unlike that of conventional aircrafts and jetpacks. It greatly improves thrust-to-weight ratio by placing the propulsion engine, fuel and associated systems on a separate unit tethered behind the jetpack. It uses water as the jet propulsion medium as its high density can convey significant power at much lower velocities, generating nozzle reaction forces much more effectively, than gases.

Flight speeds of 22mph are possible and the user can reach a ceiling height of 8.5 metres, which is restricted by the tether. The 60-litre tank on the separate boat-shaped unit will keep the jetpack in the air for up to two hours.

The carbon fibre Jetlev-Flyer will be shown at the London International Boat Show from 7 to 16 January 2011 after which it will be at the largest yacht and watersports trade fair, Boot Düsseldorf from 22 to 30 January 2011 followed by the Dubai  International Boat Show in March 2011.
