I am Hendrik de Vries and I am the son of Henk and Tineke. At the moment I fill a lot of my time with the study 'Beta-Gamma', it is a broad study, that learns me something about exact sciences, e.g. mathematics, physics, chemistry. But besides that the study also contains courses that apply more to the 'social' sciences, stuff like philosophy, psychology, sociology, economy and so on. My interests are about as broad as my study: I would say that I do not have a lot of hobbies, apart from gaming, doing something with friends, learning new things and thinking about the purpose of life, of course. I do not have any particular goals in life or at the moment, I love enjoying moments and living in these moments. But most of all I like to see every moment or situation as some sort of learning experience or some way to broader or 'better' my view. My view on anything that is.
My youth was (and is) very cool with parents like this, they taught me a lot and they still do. And it's very special that I've been on yachts and my dad has so many cool cars of course. But besides all that: I grew up with the idea that I would be in the same place as my dad in some years. And this is more or less true because Feadship is a family business and I am the son of one of the bosses. But this doesn't mean that I'll just be in this position in an instant when I'm old enough or something. No, this would be impractical and I wouldn't want this, I want to do stuff that I like and as I said, that I like to learn about, in a different specialization maybe.
My future image of myself, for as far as I have one:
· working at Feadship, knowing I got the knowledge and experience to fulfil my position;
· being an astronaut, seeking habituated exoplanets (with life), this will be possible at least when I get old and maybe earlier I think;
· being the world leader and making sure the world is peaceful and we save the earth (so we are sure that we won't ruin other planets when we inhibit them), I mean duh, would be cool ;)
