John’s engineering background began with his Ministry of Defense apprenticeship in the UK. His experience was further developed during a career within the yachting industry and later on commercial and military ship building. This experience is now expressed in his resolute dedication to product quality and customer service. While located in Rhode Island, John’s entrepreneurial spirit led him in 1985 to launch Quantum Marine Engineering Inc. Dedicated to yacht marine services it soon became apparent that relocation to Florida was inevitable. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale since 1990, Quantum started by supplying motion control stabilizers and hydraulic services, but soon developed and manufactured its own range of Stabilizers and Hydraulic power units (HPU’s). These power packs can be supplied as dedicated units for driving the stabilizers, but can also be provided as part of an integrated system to run the ships ancillary equipment such as thrusters, winches and cranes. John’s background both in engineering and yachting has enabled him to nurture a company culture and a product that has changed the world of luxury motor-yachting. The development of Zero - Speed™, where vessels at anchor are able to remain stable though the use of active motion control has resulted in a significant change in the comfort and satisfaction owners can expect from their luxury motor-yachts. The company continues to drive innovation and has a product portfolio that includes extendable foils XT™ and rotary stabilizers MagLift™ It is through John’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the highest quality standards that the Quantum group is now recognized as a premier provider of roll stabilization products for both the luxury motor-yachting and defense industry.
