Will Faimatea started work with Honeywell Aerospace and Defense as an Electronics Engineer where he spent five years dealing with communications systems for Australia’s defense forces and control industry. From there he moved into the merchant marine electronics area where he designed Australia’s first approved EPIRB test facility and taught GMDSS (Global Marine Distress Safety System) to mariners. In 1994 he found his way onto the new build of Coral Island at the Lurssen Shipyard as an owner’s representative. Since 1994 he has spent the last 18 years in the Superyacht industry dealing with all facets (commercial and technical) of electronic systems on new builds and refits for Superyachts. He worked for 8 years as an Electronics Technical Officer onboard several large yachts and then worked for a yacht management company for five years. In his field of marine electronics systems he has led some of the yacht industry’s most high profile yacht builds and started Bond Technical Management (Bond TM) in January 2007. Now in 2012 Lurssen Werft have contracted his company, Bond TM, to specify and manage the AV/IT and communications systems on a large new build. Bond Technical Management now has a team of 32 staff who provide technical consultancy to new builds and technical support and service to operational yachts. The company is the first of its kind in the yacht industry and now has offices in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Barcelona, Monaco, Cyprus and Brisbane.
