Maretron, LLP has announced that Apple Inc. has approved their N2KView Vessel Monitoring and Control software application for use on the iPhone/iPod/iPad product lines. This application will be available for free download from the Apple iTunes store.
The Maretron N2KView application will allow a boat owner to monitor or control a variety of different types of vessel data using wireless internet, whether they are onboard the boat wherever they have an internet connection. It also works in conjunction with Maretron’s popular N2KView vessel monitoring and control software.
Originally introduced in 2007, N2KView is a fully integrated vessel monitoring and control system that is built upon the industry-standard NMEA 2000 marine network, allowing monitoring of the vessel’s systems while underway or remotely from your home or office.
N2KView is completely user-configurable offering customisable display screens with the PC version which can then be transferred to the iPhone/iPod/iPad using your connection to N2KServer. The user can then switch between screens showing digital displays, analog gauges, graphic displays, warning lights, and bar graphs, all configured to specific preferences.
Once connected to a PC to the NMEA 2000 network using the Maretron USB100 gateway, the user can connect other PCs or handhelds using conventional technology like Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or 3G networks for remote viewing of things such as tank levels up on deck while fueling or monitoring the vessel’s location anywhere in the world.
