Vripack finds winner for 'No Nonsense' campaign

Hundreds of mini superyachts named 'No Nonsense' were given out to Monaco Yacht Show goers last year. Competition entrants were asked to imagine, and capture, where she could go if she could 'go anywhere'? Now the winner and the many zany entries are announced.…

Superyachts, as we know, literally go anywhere with no part of the globe left unexplored.

But up until the mischievous marketing campaign from Dutch designer, Vripack, yachts have presumably not made it on a duck hunting mission, taken a seal for a cruise or gone up to the top of Willis tower, Chicago.

These are some of the many eye opening and imaginative entries Vripack received for its ‘No Nonsense, go anywhere’ campaign before whittling them down to just three winners, and one overall winner, which were announced today.

The campaign named after the mini superyachts, ‘No Nonsense’, and its objective to make them ‘go anywhere’ by capturing results on camera, was launched at Monaco Yacht Show 2012. Hundreds of the little models were given out to show-goers.

Marnix Hoekstra describes how much fun was had just starting things off:
“The night before Monaco we put the boats everywhere. Once the police caught two of my colleagues, putting them on lamposts and things. They said you have to take them down, but then we didn’t tell them hundreds were already out there.”

Hoekstra jests, but he argues fun has an important role to play in bringing out the point of owning a superyacht, which, for all its serious aspects is fundamentally about delivering fun. He also explained the lighthearted, boundary-breaking campaign captures the company’s own ethos:

“For Vripack fun is a part of who we are, to have something fun in our marketing, designs and even in presentations - that’s what we aim for. We might as well be smiling.”

The winner revealed today is Gaël Douguet of JFA Yachts who created a video and photo shoot for his mini No Nonsense yacht to star in. Capturing her from a remote controlled sailing yacht piloting a video camera, he presented her as if she were a real superyacht making her journey on the seas. Douguet’s prize is a hand crafted art piece designed by Vripack and handmade by Henk de Boer, a craftsman of the famous Dutch earthenware.

Runners-up to the No Nonsense campaign are Jim Ruffolo of Burger Boat Company and Francois Longayroux of Pon Power. To see all the entries and winning photos visit the Vripack website here
