Northrop & Johnson Asia has announced a new central agency agreement with shipbuilders Ruea Yachts, the new construction division of Yacht Solutions.
Simon J. Turner, broker at Northrop & Johnson Asia, commented: “Over the last three years the interest in superyacht construction in Asia has been overwhelming, and we are now delighted to be able to confidently offer a very high quality design and construction team that brings something new to the market.”
“Everyone expects there to be a price advantage in Asia, which there certainly is, but the driving force behind the project is t blend European technology, architecture and design with renowned Thai craftsmanship for an overall innovate project,” continued Turner.
Ruea Yachts has launched the designs of a 60m tri-deck motoryacht and a 75m long range displacement yacht, both of which, Turner acknowledged, “reflect the demands in the market for much larger, long range yachts, yet at more manageable cost.” Turner added, “we have been gently marketing these yachts for the last year and have been surprised at the positive response with enquiries coming from all over the world. This led us to believe that the best approach was a full partnership to give global exposure to the brand and designs and the first genuine move into the superyacht market in Thailand.”
Gareth Twist, managing director of Ruea Yachts, commented: “we are very excited about our partnership with Northrop and Johnson. Through our sister company Yacht Solutions we have successfully completed many full scale refits and conversions since 2001, and we have gained trust and track record from our client projects. This new global marketing approach will help put Ruea Yachts and Thailand as a superyacht building location firmly on the map.”
Twist told SuperyachtNews.com that though Ruea Yachts has nothing in build presently, it is currently in discussion for a number of different projects. These include major refits on superyachts sized from 42m to 90m, 2 conversion projects sized 69m and 80m, and various new builds up to 75m. Twist also confirmed that Ruea Yachts is very close to the signing of a 40m motoryacht.
“We believe partering with them [Northrop and Johnson] will increase exposure for Ruea Yachts, and offer a professional team to work through all aspects of the build with us and the clients,” concluded Twist.
