The industry is full of people who like to take risks and dream big. Eric Merlin’s yachting journey, for example, started in 1999 when he built a turn-of-the-century paddleboat using just an antique postcard. Now the owner of a faithfully restored 41.5m minesweeper, he tells us about his first real labour of love, M/Y Emeraude. There are also the owners who dare to push the boundaries of design, like with Adrian Lee, owner of the Benetti M/Y Ocean Paradise. He tells us about how he avoided yachty clichés and designed one of the most surprising yacht interiors of last year.
