Theyr, the London based advanced weather-forecast provider, specialising in the maritime and wind energy sectors, has announced the launch of its digital precision weather and ocean forecasting app for maritime professionals. GRIBview mobile delivers high-definition weather and ocean forecasting technology for mobile devices.

GRIBview mobile provides free and unlimited GRIB downloads for the Global Forecasting System (GFS) – GRIdded Binary or General Regularly-distributed Information in Binary form (GRIB) being the format used by the world’s meteorological institutions to manipulate weather data into observable visual data. These downloads will include GFS data at one-degree resolution, and high-resolution data down to one kilometre resolution.
Additionally, subscriptions to high-resolution premium weather data packages are available; they include wind speed, barometric pressure, precipitation, air temperature, sea surface temperature, significant wave height, period and direction.
The new app provides a variety of packages to suit the varying needs of marine professionals. All packages come with the same user-friendly interface and an ability to save and store historical data for use when offshore and offline. The inclusion of a mobile app in the Theyr portfolio completes its multi-platform system, with users able to use the same format online, on tablet or on a mobile phone.
