Wider presents new edition of 42’ day cruiser

After having previously been presented at Cannes Film Festival, the new Wider 42’ Côte d’Azur Edition was displayed for a second time at the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix.

The new edition of the day cruiser, an evolution of the original model, is primarily characterised by the new arrangement of the interchangeable external furnishings, which has made it possible to comfortably accommodate up to 12 people.  Among the changes are the substitution of the original bench for a c-shaped dinette, which can also be converted into a sundeck, a new design for the pilot seat, and the repositioning of the galley furniture which is now located in the cockpit in front of the Formula 1-inspired driving console, where previously it was found under the pilot seat.

In the new edition, Tilli Antonelli and his team have capitalised on the energy-saving aspect of the day cruiser through more extensive use of pre-peg carbon, thus further reducing the weight of the tender. The subsequent weight-power ratio enables the tender to reach a top speed of 50 knots and a cruise speed of 40 knots, whilst simultaneously reducing fuel consumption, which registers at 110 lt./h for the two 480hp Cummins engines.

The final adjustment is to be found in the driving console, which now incorporates additional stowage space in a feature resembling the glove box of a car.

The changes to the Wider 42’ were made according to the suggestions of the Monaco Boat Service, and in particular Lia Riva, who Wider identified as integral to the success of the project.

“After having presented Wider 42’ to the public on various official occasions, organised many sea trials in both Europe and the United States, and sold a number of boats, we listened to the comments made and noted the recurrent demands of those we spoke to in order to design the final layout of the cockpit”, said Tilli Antonelli. “The new set-up has been designed to make time spent on board even more comfortable, further emphasising the party boat nature that has characterised this 42-footer right from the off”.
