New products from Transas Marine

Transas Marine has recently introduced two new products to its range of software, integrated solutions and hardware technologies for the marine industry.

Released in January of this year was the new 4-level ECDIS concept, designed to provide an IMO-compliant solution for maritime companies. The new product packages span four different levels: Standard, Standard+, Premium and Premium+, all of which are detailed with Transas’ Navi-Sailor software.  Each level is constituted of carefully selected standard features and a range of additional options specific to each system.

“With our new 4-level concept we cover all market requirements”, said Anders Rydlinger, Transas Marine Product Development Director. “Our objective is to provide a solution to the market where a ‘standard’ system features the best available quality and at the same time is user-friendly and cost-efficient. However, we also provide for shipping companies that want to utilise a comprehensive technology that goes beyond IMO requirements”.

Later on in the year, Transas launched its ‘Pay As You Sail’ (PAYS) chart solution for (S)ENC after having received approval for the solution by PRIMAR and IC-ENC, following succesful sea trials and verification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Transas’ PAYS solution, developed in cooperation with UKHO requirements, is a service that operates in collaboration with the ECDIS logbook to access chart licenses and corrections. PAYS communicates via Transas Gateway firewall through a secure online Internet connection from the vessel’s Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS to the Transas Chart Server. Other than the vessel’s Internet connection, no extra communication equipment or tracking service is required.

In place of the habitual purchasing of charts prior to each voyage using the pre-licensing method, the Transas PAYS solution, once the necessary permissions have been obtained, provides the vessel with a licence and the ability to access, install, view and pre-plan using official (S)ENCs without additional cost.
