Hill Dickinson's David Ferris completes Clipper Round the World Race

Hill Dickinson Bids Manager, David Ferris has raised £1500 for Marie Curie Cancer Care after successfully completing the final two legs of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race.
Ferris, who won a competition to join the race, took the opportunity to raise money for his chosen charity, Marie Curie Cancer Cure. On Friday 3 August Ferris presented a cheque for £1,500 to the Regional Corporate Development Manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Brian Curran. The money raised will go towards Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Belfast Hospice in memory of Ferris’ mother who was cared for by their nurses.
Ferris commented: “As a Northern Irishman the whole experience of joining the race from Derry-Londonderry has been exciting and emotional. We sailed round the top of Scotland to Den Helder in the Netherlands which was extremely challenging, before going on to the dramatic finish in Southampton. It was truly a once in a life time experience and being able to raise so much money for Marie Curie Cancer Care in the process, a charity that has been a great support to my own family in the past, made it all the more special.”
Upon receiving the donation Curran said: “We are grateful to David for his efforts and will put the money raised to good use, supporting the work we do in the Belfast Hospice with people who are facing their own challenges.”
