Puerto Banús® consolidates its position as a luxury shopping destination
The enclave remains as the second point in Spain with the highest extra-community expenditure among travellers, only behind the Salamanca neighbour.
The ticket of purchase of the port has registered an average of 994€.
Marbella, January 21nd 2019.- Puerto Banús®, one of the most emblematic nautical and tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, consolidates its position as a benchmark in the luxury shopping sector. According to a report prepared by the Centro de Investigación, Divulgación e Innovación en Turismo de la escuela de turismo Ostelea, Puerto Banús® consolidates itself as the second point in Spain where travellers from outside the European Community spend the most.
With a figure of more than 990€, Puerto Banús® registers the second highest average ticket in the country, only behind Salamanca neighbour (Madrid), where the figure of 1,011€ has been reached. Finally, the podium is completed by the emblematic Paseo de Gracia (Barcelona) with an average ticket of 850€.
The same study indicates that Malaga is the third duty-free zone in Spain, after Barcelona and Madrid, as well as highlighting that tourists shopping in Spain mainly seek clothing and accessories (52.2%), followed by watches and jewellery products (13.8%), leather and accessories (13.4%) and products within the category of consumer electronics (7.3%).
An exclusive shopping offer
Since its inauguration in 1970, the iconic marina has one of the most important concentrations per square metre of luxury brands in Spain with major brands such as Dior, Saint Laurent, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Bvlgari, Valentino, Loewe or Tom Ford among its more than 100 boutiques.
The luxury shopping offer is completed with brands such as Saint Laurent, Loewe, Golden Goose or Patrizia Pepe, a fact that reinforces the position of the port as a reference within the luxury sector.
