Princess Yachts has selected Dometic’s Sea Xchange watermakers to be fitted as standard across its boat range.

Using reverse-osmosis to convert seawater into drinking water, the compact Sea Xchange SX1200 and SX2200 units have been specially customised for leading boat builder Princess.

The installation of the Dometic watermakers onboard the Princess models enables the boat owner to produce their own water either directly from the seawater or from the dockside. This water can then be further purified using a Dometic Spot Zero unit with the aim of filling up the freshwater tanks with ultra-pure water.

Steve Morris, Director EMEA – Technical and Sales Application Division, Dometic, said: “The Dometic watermakers fundamentally transform the way Princess yacht owners can approach the management of their boat’s onboard water. The double-pass system provided by the Dometic Sea Xchange and Spot Zero systems enables boat owners to remove virtually all of the dissolved solids in their freshwater.

“Boat owners can enjoy ultra-pure fresh water for drinking, ice-making, cooking, flushing of toilets, showering and ultimately boat washdown. With an increasing number of painted hulls, washing down with your own onboard ultra-pure water means you will help to maintain the ‘as new’ look. The water has no impurities so natural air drying after rinsing leaves no marks or blemishes.  The rest of the water system also benefits - shower screens, water solenoids, stainless steel sinks and glass all maintain their appearance.”

Capable of reliable production of large volumes of water, the powerful Dometic Sea Xchange is built for durability and rust resistance in the harsh marine environment and is compactly designed to make the best use of any available installation space.

The watermaker system comes in four models - the SX600, with a capacity of 95 litres per hour, the SX1200 (189 litres per hour), the SX1800 (284 litres per hour) and the SX2200 (347 litres per hour). Each unit is 47cm x 122cm x 61cm. Weight ranges from 65 kg for the lowest-capacity SX600 unit to 80 kg for the highest-capacity SX2200 unit.

The Dometic Spot Zero fresh water reverse-osmosis system eliminates 95-99% of all impurities – including hard-water minerals, heavy metals, particles, bacteria, and other contaminants – creating fresh, clean drinking water. The system removes dissolved solids which leave water spots and are destructive to marine paints, coatings, hardware and other yacht finishes. The pure, softened water means boat finishes last much longer, saving boat owners thousands of dollars.
