Hamburg-based Stefan ZUCKER & PARTNER GmbH is celebrating its "silver" anniversary.

Hamburg - What began as a one-person operation on 16 January 1990 is now something of an institution in the international yacht industry: Stefan ZUCKER & PARTNER GmbH is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015. The service portfolio of the Hamburg-based consultancy firm, which is a member of the DEUTSCHE YACHTEN working group, ranges from valuations for eight-metre yachts to anti-piracy protection for mega yachts. Throughout, founder and owner Stefan Zucker focuses on technical progress and on traditional values.

Stefan Zucker, now 54, has been passionate about water and yachts from a young age. He grew up in a sailing school, so it goes without saying that he has been around boats from an early age. Prior to setting up his own consultancy firm, Zucker studied for his degree in Industrial Engineering for Maritime Transportation and acquired his masterÂ’s certificate, both being great practical and theoretical qualifications for creating a start-up.

Zucker established his firm with diligence and discipline, and focused on taking small steps towards continuous growth. The company worked on jobs relating to cargo damage and damage in transit in commercial shipping during the first few years and gradually started to specialise in the yacht industry, at which time the current ZUCKER & PARTNER trademark emerged.

Be it a salvage following a hurricane in the Caribbean, searching for wreckages in the China Sea or handling a yacht after it has dismasted on Spitzbergen, Stefan Zucker and his team also operate on an international scale and quite often in extremely adverse circumstances. ZUCKER & PARTNER's core business is and will continue to be condition surveys, valuations and loss assessments. However, the Hamburg-based consultants can also assist in constructing superyachts, which is often a highly complex process that takes several years. The company's latest successful project is the construction of a 55-metre cruiser in Heesen, the Dutch shipyard that specialises in luxury yachts.

In the complex yacht management industry, ZUCKER & PARTNER's staff organise the logistics, operational procedures and solutions for security issues. This includes implementing the International Safety Management System / International Ship & Port Facility Security Code (ISM / ISPS): international safety regulations that are compulsory for commercial yachts of 500 gt or over and are increasing in importance in times of piracy and terrorist attacks.

Today, ZUCKER & PARTNER comprises an eleven-person team, made up of captains, shipbuilding engineers, boat builders and economists, all of whom handle international projects within the yacht industry. The staff are passionate about sailing and have numerous connections within their sector – excellent preconditions for the next successful 25 years at ZUCKER & PARTNER.
