Dominion Marine Corporate Services, part of the ICM Group of companies based on the Isle of Man, has announced the promotion of senior manager Simon Roberts to the position of Head of Yachting Services for the Group.

Chris Allix, founder and director of Dominion Marine, which was established in 1984, told us that Simon represents the next generation:

“I would like to congratulate Simon on his promotion and we are all delighted that he has accepted the post.

Dominion Marine is one of the largest, independent, service providers specialising in superyachts and Simon has certainly got the skills and expertise to strategically grow and build the company for the future.

Simon will be working across all of our offices and areas of expertise, including crew solutions, technical services, corporate services and VAT.

He has a fantastic team of managers and administrators to support him and we know he will do a great job.”

Simon has worked in the shipping and yacht management industry for 16 years, which has included extended periods in Eastern Europe, South Africa and the Philippines. He has conducted full ISM and ISPS audits on a variety of large commercial shipping vessels along the coast of East, South and West Africa and in the Baltic region and brings a wealth of experience in both Merchant Shipping and Yacht Management to his new role.

Simon has also set up two successful yacht crew management companies in Jersey in 2008 and 2012. He is a qualified QMS Lead Auditor/Assessor and ISM Auditor. He holds a Lloyds Maritime accredited Diploma in Crew Management and is currently working towards a Diploma in Superyacht Management.

Reflecting on his promotion, Simon commented:

“I am excited to be heading up such a great and knowledgeable team of marine specialists, across our multi-jurisdictional offices in the Isle of Man, Jersey, Malta, Cyprus and Monaco.

I am particularly looking forward to getting out there and meeting up with our main contacts and building new relationships, as well as working closely with Ken Griggs and Xavier Lamadrid, our team in Monaco, who promote and sell the Dominion Marine SARL VAT solution for pleasure yachts.

I will also continue to attend all the major yacht shows with Chris Allix, including the Dubai International Boat Show, from 3rd to 7th March and the MYBA Charter Show in Genoa from 27th to 30th April.

There is no doubt this is going to be a busy job but I am more than prepared to hit the ground running. I see myself very much as part of the team and it is good to know I have their support.”

Simon joined the ICM Group in 2010 as Head of Dominion Crew Solutions, building and growing the company into a leading provider of crew employment and payroll services to the superyacht industry. The Group recently moved into new headquarters in Douglas and has over 80 staff working across multiple offices and industries.
