Carlo Vinelli graduated from the University of Genoa in 2004 with a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, with his studies having a particular emphasis on ship management and business administration.
He joined the Isle of Man Ship Registry in July 2017 as a Senior Surveyor. Hailing from Genoa, Italy, he comes from a family with a long seafaring tradition.
Prior to joining the Ship Registry team, he was employed in Saudi Arabia by Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest crude oil exporter, as a Marine Technical Advisor.
He was also employed for several years by one of the world’s leading classification societies, the Italian Ship Register, better known as RINA. During his time with RINA, he was involved with many oil and gas projects in Europe, Asia and Africa, acting as a Consultant, Designer or Marine Warranty Surveyor.
His career has also seen him involved with many shipyard activities as an external advisor or project manager, mainly focusing his experience on large commercial yachts, most of them registered under Red Ensign Group.
