Beginning his career as an apprentice pattern maker in the composites industry, Jonathan Diffey took his skills to an armour manufacturer, where he began working his way up the ladder, quickly being promoted to production manager, sales and finally to a directorship.
As many do, Jon felt it was time to leave the world of big corporates and founded ASL GRP in 2012 and achieved a turnover of £1.2 million in first full year of trading.
Since then ASL has grown rapidly, with a great team, most of whom have composite backgrounds, and a sales team based in the UK and Europe.
ASL has increased its range of products since the early days, designing and manufacturing armour for numerous sectors. Vehicle armour and flat panel armour have been the core of the company’s production, whereas these days ASL manufacture armour kits for helicopters, support European and UK Police forces in supplying ballistic, blast and riot protection. In the marine industry ASL work with shipyards to design, manufacture and fit armour for superyachts and currently work with renowned catamaran builders Cheetah Marine.
ASL GRP supply bespoke solutions - working on the concept of what a product can be, adapting and working with the given environment.
