Richard Montado heads the Gibraltar Maritime Administration (GMA), which encapsulates both the Gibraltar Ship and Yacht Registries. Hailing from an administrative and legislative background, Richard is a graduate of the World Maritime University (Sweden) and possesses degrees from the University of Durham (UK).
Encouraging young persons to participate in the maritime industry is one of Richard's main drivers and he presently oversees Gibraltar's maritime cadet programme, as well as engaging with charity initiatives both locally and abroad. He has spent more than seventeen years in government, serving in a variety of senior positions including fifteen at the Maritime Administration, as well as being a Member of Gibraltar's Public Service Commission and Parliamentary Elections team between 2011-2014.
After serving as Senior Executive Officer in Gibraltar’s Department of the Environment, he re-joined the GMA in 2013 as Maritime Administrator and is responsible for all aspects of Port State and Flag State responsibilities in Gibraltar.
