Angus began his career with Lloyd’s Register as a marine surveyor. He spent seven years in southern Africa, surveying and repairing largely older (and much older) cargo ships as well as building landing craft, tug boats and yachts. He spent another seven years in China and Korea building cargo ships and developing an impressive tolerance of both kimchi and baijiu.
He joined the Isle of Man Ship Registry in 2006 as a senior surveyor. In addition to undertaking surveys of everything from superyachts to supertankers and offshore installations, he has been involved in the drafting of later iterations of the Large Commercial Yacht Code, the Passenger Yacht Code and Manx Regulations.
Angus became Principal Surveyor in March 2017 since when he has been progressing development of the Isle of Man Ship Registry’s services to ships and yachts.
