In 1984, Massimo Perotti started to work in Azimut, side by side with Mr. Paolo Vitelli, founder of the company, becoming Manager in 1987, at the age of 27. In the early 90’s Massimo Perotti became a member of the company’s Board of Directors. In 1996, he was appointed General Manager of Azimut Division (2/3 of the Group turnover).
In 2005 he purchased “Cantieri Navali Sanlorenzo SpA” (to become Sanlorenzo SpA).
Here, while maintain the same style with a personalized and direct approach to the customers that had made Sanlorenzo unique, he brought the company to an international (now worldwide) level.
A new distribution strategy was created: Brand Representatives instead of “dealers”, no more plain “sellers” of the Sanlorenzo products by a branch of the mother company itself to maintain the direct contact with the final customer, expanding the sales network to a worldwide level.
A fundamental step was the creation of new yacht models: the semi-diplacement “SD Line” and the metal “40Alloy” launched in 2008, setting up the “Sanlorenzo Superyacht Division”, are just two examples of the innovation brought in Sanlorenzo by Massimo Perotti.
In 2017, the shipyard delivered the first 52m, its flagship so far, and launched a groundbreaking model on the market, the “SX” line, with the first “SX88” winner of the award “Most Innovative boat of the year” in 2017 and on the cover of the most important magazines of the nautical industry.
Setting a new, revolutionary path in the nautical business, in 2009 Massimo Perotti had one of the most charismatic characters of the world of design, Rodolfo Dordoni, create the interiors of the new “SL106”, a true cornerstone of yachting evolution . This pioneering approach was the first of the many steps that brought Sanlorenzo closer and closer to the design and art environment. Since then, collaborations with prominent and leading figures in design, Studio Citterio/Viel, Patricia Urquiola and Piero Lissoni just to name a few, are a constant in the activity of the shipyard, with Piero Lissoni now directly involved with the company not only for the yacht interiors but also as Art Director.
