ITALY, Genoa. Following the announcement that the Tankoa S693 had resumed construction, following the hull’s purchase by a new client, the yard has provided a progress update on the build.
According to Tankoa Yachts, the project is already two weeks ahead of schedule and work has already concluded on the steel transom. Faring on the hull and superstructure is ’85 per cent’ complete with the primers set to be applied within weeks.
Other aspects of the build that are well on their way to completion include the levelling of exterior decks in preparation for the decking; piping and wiring; and sound and vibration insulation on the lower decks.
After additional tank testing conducted by the project’s naval architect, Vincenzo Ruggiero, it appears the hull, which was extended by five metres, will now require 200kW less than originally anticipated to reach its cruising speed of 15 knots.

Francesco Paszkowski — who designed the original vessel, has undertaken the subsequent modifications and will oversee the interior — spoke of resurrecting a partnership that first began at Baglietto.
“Working with the same individuals who have been the spine of the Baglietto shipyard in Varazze from 1996 to 2004, and with whom I did a number of unique projects is making my task very easy,” explains Paszkowski.
“I believe that the work methods at Tankoa can be compared with most other yards. What I felt, though, is that with each person on their team, there is a profound wish to produce high quality work with personal attention to every single detail. And I must confess this is something I have only found [prior to this project] with some highly experienced foreign builders.”

Paszkowski has finalised the details of the vessel’s interior, which will be ‘modern, but warm and inviting, using only noble and natural materials.’ This begins on the main deck, which will be reminiscent of a Japanese house — comprising plenty of greenery and slate floors. The salon, which is rich in natural light, will also contain an airplane wing-shaped bar, in a nod to the owner’s interest in aviation. Forward there is a 16-person cinema and a 16-person dining area, as well as a floor-to-ceiling wine display designed by Paszkowski and incorporated into the bulkhead.
The guest cabins and full-beam VIP suite are also found on the main deck and are characterised by oversized windows, washed teak, Chinese-style lacquered ceilings and black marble.
The owner’s deck is divided into two portions — the owner’s cabin, complete with library/study area, and a TV room fitted with an Opium bed and a skylight that doubles as the floor of the swimming pool.
