SamBoat ventures into the superyacht market

Applying the rental holiday model to charter…

SamBoat, an online marketplace that connects boat and yacht owners with people wishing to rent them for their next holiday or adventure, has moved into the superyacht market with the addition of a number of small superyachts to its fleet.

The platform has historically offered a range of boats to rent, from €15 - €7,000 per day, but it has now taken a leap into luxury, with its most expensive rental yet. Superyacht charters remain popular, and research has shown that an emerging pool of UHNWIs prefer models that don’t require ownership, and chartering is an effective way of mitigating costs.

S/Y Admiral is 46.6m and available for customers of SamBoat to rent for €33,334 per day, and €225,000 per week during high season. Admiral can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people with 12 beds on board, nine crew, and benefits such as a RYA watersports centre and a jacuzzi deck.

“I think what makes us different in the industry is our relationship to our customers”, commented Alfredo Bernal, UK country manager of SamBoat. “Much of our technological innovation comes from customers’ feedback and requests. This constantly evolves the platform, making it as user-friendly as possible, addressing every need”, he continued.

Hosting 30,000 boats on its online database, users of SamBoat can choose from boats all across the world. Other luxurious options for rental include 30m S/Y Auriane, which has a licenced capacity of six people (including skipper) for €32,000 per week (season dependent) and 28.5m S/Y Johnson Baby, falling just below our categorisation of a superyacht, but has a licensed capacity of 10 people (including skipper) for €51,000 per week (season dependent).

“In terms of superyachts, we have been adding these boats in specific destinations like Ibiza and we continue to keep adding them to our platform”, notes Bernal. Although the more premium boats on SamBoat’s database are, of course, more expensive, when broken down by the number of passengers and split between friends or a group, the travelling experience becomes a viable price point.
