It has been a tumultuous period for Moonen Yachts, but now it would seem the shipyard is on track and making some strong progress, following its recent takeover, in the construction of the 36m Moonen Martinique superyacht.

Having been acquired by an Australian couple, Matthew and Louise Baxter, in August this year, Moonen Yachts has confirmed the new 36m is on track for an August 2020 delivery, and as a spec build, offering a unique new build opportunity for prospective owners.

The Dutch shipyard confirmed an important milestone in the construction of the 36m Moonen Martinique as the hull and superstructure of the project were ceremoniously joined together, 11 months after the keel was laid.

“We’re all extremely proud that we have been able to reduce the delay in the construction on the Martinique, and this significant moment in the build perfectly demonstrates our capabilities as a premium Dutch shipbuilder,” continues van Zon. “With the hull and superstructure now joined, our latest 36-metre model is taking shape. It’s always special to see the full beauty of the design come to life and we’re excited to see her in the water next summer.”

This is the second yacht to be built in the Martinique range, which features exterior design by Rene van der Velden and naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. Renowned London based studio, Indigo, is responsible for the yacht’s interiors, which have been described by the shipyard as ‘sophisticated’.

Upon the shipyard’s acquisition earlier this year, Matthew and Louise Baxter revealed plans to scale up production efficiently, and focus on shorter delivery times through a speculative model.

Following the delivery of the 36m Moonen Martinique next summer, the superyacht will be on display at the 2020 edition of the Cannes boat show.
