Brokerage market awaits outcome of another busy MYS
Catching up with the industry’s brokers, big and small, at MYS last week, there’s an overall positivity in the air for a strong close to 2014, including three sales closed last week.…
With no shortage of yachts available and plenty of buyers on the ground, MYS closed for another year with brokers awaiting the outcomes of contacts made, which will determine whether the show was a success. Laurent Perignon, COO of Camper & Nicholsons International commented that “the balance of demand and supply is evening out and the overall business situation is improving and increasing.” While Simon Turner of C&NI also felt there were plenty of owners and interest on the ground this year compared to the past.
Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess shared that, “the show can be garnered a success if we get even one sale out of the contacts made. We’re not asking for a huge influx of owners, but even getting that one new client involved can be seen as an improvement year-on-year”.
The week running 23 - 29 September saw three sales completed, 18 new central agencies announced, and eight price reductions made.
