'Comanche' designed to 'break monohull sailing records'

Hodgdon Yachts has launched 30.5m racing yacht, 'Comanche'.…

Hodgdon Yachts has launched Comanche, a 30.5m pre-preg carbon fibre racing yacht from its East Boothbay facility. She will now have her keel and rigging fitted at Newport Shipyard before undergoing sea trials.

Commenting on the infusion of the mould, one of the largest ever undertaken in the US, back in March president, Tim Hodgdon said, "The amount of planning, organisation and coordination required to effect this successful work is formidable.

"Our talented team, along with the vast experience and leadership of our project partners Tim Hacket and Brandon Linton, continues to strengthen our core competence in advanced composites.

“She was designed and built to break monohull sailing records”, Hodgdon added. And this claim will be put to the test when she takes part in her inaugural race – the famed Sydney to Hobart crossing.
