Brisbane based Rivergate Marina and Shipyard and Superyacht Solutions have collaborated on the six month refit of the 47 metre Italian built superyacht M/Y Aquamarina to redeliver the yacht to its owner early and under budget.
“Early and under budget are words that are not commonly used on superyacht projects” said Superyacht Solutions Director Peter Luke. “To be able to say this on a complex superyacht refit is real testament to the Australian ‘know how’ that was brought to bear on the Aquamarina refit by Rivergate Marina and Shipyard and Superyacht Solutions. A cornerstone of the six month refit was the total refinishing of the yacht, in newly developed effect coatings from DuPont in Europe.
DuPont Europe formulated the pearlescent paints used on Aquamarina’s superstructure and the metallic coatings applied to the yachts hull, specifically for the discerning owner of Aquamarina. According to reports from the yard, the outcome is breath taking. Aquamarina sparkles which prompted DuPont executive Mr Owen Streatfeild to say during his recent prelaunch inspection”…absolutely magnificent, absolutely magnificent refinish!” Superyacht Solutions specialise in the application of effect coatings to superyachts. Aquamarina is a jewel in their crown and is tribute to their leading status in this emerging market.
On Rivergate's selection as yard of choice, Rivergate Marina and Shipyard’s manager, Andrew Cannon said, “we were selected based on quality and capacity to deliver. It is no doubt the most advanced superyacht refinish ever carried out in Australia and we are proud of our achievement.”
Aquamarina was relaunched on 22 March from the BMIP 600 tonne travelifts facility in Queensland.
