Kiwi support agent and supplier, 37 South, has launched a new charter focused website - www.37southyachtcharter.com - for their private yacht charter division. Launched at the end of 2012, the site focuses primarily on the South Pacific and fills a perceived niche for local destination focused information for charter clients. The main 37 South homepage - www.37southyachts.com - has also been redesigned and relaunched on a fresh new platform.

Speaking to SuperyachtNews.com today Fleur Tomlinson, Charter Specialist at 37 South, explained that, “There were numerous reasons for building the new charter specific site, the simplest one being that our charter division began to grow and we realised that our main website was busy enough already without supporting a fully comprehensive charter section as well so we decided to split the two so that both could be more targeted and focused." Although it is certainly not the first destination focused website, 37 South believe it is the only platform whose focus is primarily the South Pacific.

"Although our website is very much international and we are very capable of organizing charters globally, we focus largely on the South Pacific. The area is a truly magical, comparatively untouched paradise and it deserves thorough representation in the yachting industry. The difference with the South Pacific and more well-known destinations like the Caribbean is that there is very little reliable information out there," said Tomlinson.

"We now experience many 45m+ yachts exploring the region," said Allan Jouning, Director at 37 South. "Tahiti is very busy during May and June when the first influx of yachts comes though the Canal after a Caribbean season, then we seem now to have a second wave of yachts in late August/September. The trend is still to head west to the Cook islands - Tonga and Fiji and plan to be departing Fiji late October early November before cyclone season arrives."

As well as acting as a resource on chartering in the Pacific, the new website is a platform for the 37 South team and fellow seafarers to divulge the lessons learnt on the sea, the secrets of distant locations and recommendations. The website will be continually added to over time. "We hope that it becomes a valuable tool and source for not only potential charter clients but to brokers, captains and crew alike," concluded Tomlinson.
