Feadship’s 60.1m Meduse sold by Fraser Yachts
The 60.1m Feadship motoryacht, Meduse, has been sold by Stuart Larsen of Fraser Yachts for a final asking price of $25 million.
Meduse was originally commissioned by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, to replace a smaller Feadship. Allen has an extensive superyacht fleet and – much like his work on the Microsoft product range – Meduse is jam-packed with exciting features, is meticulously finished, and has been continually upgraded.
Meduse was constructed with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure at the Dutch shipyard’s facility in Aalsmeer, and launched in 1996. She features the naval architecture and exterior design work of in-house designers, De Voogt Naval Architects.
Her design is purposed for world cruising. She has a 135,000-litre fuel capacity that allows for a trans-Atlantic range of 5,380 nautical miles at a reasonable cruising speed of 12.5 knots, powered by her twin Caterpillar 3516DI-TA engines.
Other notable on board features that encourage the adventure and enhance the comfort of long-range cruising includes: a decompression diving chamber, a cinema, a gymnasium, large tenders, watersports equipment and a reinforced helicopter landing facility at the aft of the sun deck.
With an interior volume of 1,028GT, interior designers McMillan and Co., New York, incorporated six double staterooms, comprising a full-beam forward-facing master stateroom finished in pear wood, a VIP stateroom, and four guest staterooms. There is also a single nanny cabin that adjoins one of the guest staterooms.
The latest substantial refit work was in summer 2011 at ITM shipyard in Marseille, France, and included the rebuilding of the engines, considerable repairs and upgrades for other on board operating systems and general maintenance – such as varnishing, deck re-seaming and re-chroming – giving her an appearance now that would suggest a later delivery date than 1996.
