Feadship’s 52.1m Gravitas sold by IYC
Gravitas, the Feadship motoryacht that was listed for sale with IYC in June 2015, has been sold in an in-house deal by IYC, with Mark Elliott representing the seller and Michel Chryssicopoulos introducing the buyer. Her final asking price was $19.85 million (€17.47 million).
The 52.1m build, formerly known as Battered Bull, was delivered in 1995 by Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard in Kaag, Netherlands. Her exterior work and naval architecture is very much that of a ‘classic’ Feadship design and is the product of in-house designers De Voogt Naval Architects, which apportioned three spacious decks with multiple outdoor spaces for guests.
She has a shorter sun deck than expected – featuring a Jacuzzi, cocktail bar and seating arrangements – allowing the open aft of the bridge deck to house multiple tenders and a ‘touch and go’ helipad.
The interior, which underwent significant refit work in 2014 whilst Gravitas was undergoing a hull repaint, was designed by US interior designer Bruce Gregga. Her 682GT interior volume provides capacious accommodation for up to 18 guests over an eight-stateroom layout. The new owner is treated to a 12,000sqm, four-room owner’s apartment, which features a cocktail bar and a private living room with 360-degree views. The other guest cabins are located on the lower deck and accessed by a spiral staircase.
Abeking & Rasmussen’s 60m Elandess, Heesen’s 54.9m Serenity, Delta Marine’s 46.2m Just J’s, and now Gravitas, were four of the 45m+ yachts exhibited for sale at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March and now all four have been sold. How influential the show itself was in closing these transactions remains behind closed doors. However, this combined €128.12 million of sales alone has been the outcome – not to mention the sales of smaller second-hand yachts and exhibiting shipyards’ successes in securing new contracts during the show.
