Cantieri Delle Marche launches M/Y 'Storm'
Italian shipyard Cantieri Delle Marche, based in Ancona has launched their latest project, 31m Darwin 102, now christened Storm. The displacement explorer yacht has been built for an English ship owner who reportedly is likely to spend more than 120 days a year on board.
Weighing 300 tonnes, Storm is constructed of steel and aluminum with a gross tonnage within the 300gt threshold. Powered by twin MTU 8V 2000, she has a maximum speed of 13.6 knots. Storm also has a long range of 5900nm at 10 knots and a fuel capacity of 40,000 litres. Italian based designer Hydro Tec penned the exterior design and naval architecture of Storm.
Sales and marketing manager Vasco Buonpensiere commented, “The owner of this explorer ship was the first customer to have contacted this site in 2010 and, after three years of inquiries and checks with his advisers, in 2013 he decided to buy this Darwin Class 107. The baptism of Storm marks an important moment for all those who work here, as well as for the owner.”
CEO of the Cantiere Delle Marche, Ennio Cecchini in a statement to the press said, “Building this yacht was exciting in every respect: the synergy between shipowner and crew, the goals shared by them and the whole CDM team, and the driving force created by a common passion for the explorer ship. The volume was used and balanced between operational areas and those used by the owner. We look forward to being able to present the yacht to the press in detail.”
Storm will be officially unveiled at the Cannes Boat Show 2015, where she will debut.
