Heesen launches 50m 'Sibelle'
By Rory Jackson
At 50m and below 500GT, Heesen’s new motoryacht M/Y Sibelle offers ample room to entertain guests, but being small enough to anchor in remote bays, Sibelle meets the expectations of her intimately involved owner and respective captain.
After a detailed research programme into the best course keeping and comfort creating hull options, the owner opted to go for a plumb bow in addition to the more conventional Fast Displacement Hull Form. With a maximum speed of 18.5 knots utilising only two 1,000kW MTUs an Atlantic crossing is achievable using only 45,000 litres, leaving plenty in reserve. Sibelle offers a range of 3,150 nautical miles at 13 knots.
Naval architect, Perry van Oossanen comments, “the modest propeller tunnel design allows for 1.5 metre diameter propellers. The hull is fitted with Quantum XT zero-speed fins, and bilge keels, offering a maximum reduction in roll angle at anchor. The design of the hull, the appendages and the propulsion arrangement have been focused on obtaining the best fuel efficiency possible, without sacrificing performance and comfort when running in waves.”
Exterior design, interior design and general arrangement were provided by Frank Laupman of Omega architects as well as Mikhail Labazov and Andrei Savin of Architectural Bureau A-B Studio. Divergent exterior lines create the impression of parallelism and bleached teak wood panels form continuous horizontal lines within.
Ten guests can be accommodated in five cabins. Sixty-one square metres are dedicated to the master suite; traditionally located forward on the main deck, she boasts two separate dressing rooms, each with a private en suite bathroom. The four guest cabins (two VIP, one twin and one double) all have en suite bathrooms and are positioned on the lower deck.
The main and rescue tenders are placed on the foredeck under way. When they are in the water, this vast area with opening bulwarks, transforms into an entertainment space adjacent to the sea and perfect for events. This configuration allows the aft lower deck to be used as a large (21.5sqm) beach club / wellness area equipped with sauna - accessible directly from the main saloon aft through an internal staircase.
